Five Players Who Should Never Kiss Their Club Badge

There are a number of players floating around the Premier League at the moment who have been linked with big money and high profile moves away from their clubs, which makes badge kissing seem a little counter productive.

If these players want to leave their clubs on good terms this summer then they should not consider a badge kiss, which is generally taken as a sign of commitment. Here are five to consider.

Ashley Williams – Swansea City

Ashley Williams is quite literally Mr. Swansea. He is the captain of that side and he has been having a brilliant season which has attracted the attention of Liverpool and Arsenal.

Both of those clubs may be prepared to pay big for him this summer, which will make it difficult to turn down any move. Kissing his Swansea badge now would not be a good idea as it could leave a bad taste in the mouths of many fans should he leave.

Bacary Sagna – Arsenal

Sagna has been heavily tipped to go to France this summer, with Paris Saint-Germain reportedly keen on offering him a route away from the Emirates Stadium.

Sagna is under pressure from Carl Jenkinson in the Arsenal squad at the moment and the chances that he’ll leave are very high, meaning any badge kissing he does between now and the end of the season would be pointless.

Edin Dzeko – Manchester City

Dzeko has been hitting the back of the net for City with regularity (12 times this season in the league) which is remarkable considering he’s come off the bench on 13 different occasions.

If you believe what you read then Dzeko could be on his way out of Manchester with a return to the Bundesliga being tipped. Unfortunately for Dzeko, emotions make players do silly celebrations and in this case a badge kiss could be just that.

Gareth Bale – Tottenham Hotspur

Anyone who follows football knows the speculation surrounding Gareth Bale, with Real Madrid a strong candidate to fork out tens of millions for his transfer.

Similarly to Dzeko, Bale is one of Spurs’ top goalscorers, smashing in 16 goals so far this season in 26 matches and he’ll have ample opportunity to kiss that Spurs badge again before the end of the season which may not be the best idea as he could well be tempted away to La Liga.

Marouane Fellaini – Everton

Fellaini said earlier in the season that he would consider staying at Everton if the club secured Champions League football. Now that seems to be off the table, he could be about to move on.

What would annoy Everton fans most about a badge kiss in this instance is the respect that Fellaini is likely to join one of the club’s rivals for a top six place, which will not go down well.
