Stephen Quinn joined Sheffield United seven years ago when he was 19-years-old.
In the summer of 2010 he signed a contact extension and said: “I am absolutely delighted to settle the deal and couldn’t be happier here because I am so settled. All my family are here and love it to pieces. I have been here for seven years and the club is in my heart so there was no question I would sign.”
However, at the end of that season, United were relegated and Quinn wanted to explore his options after being named the Fans’ and Players’ Player of the year…
“If a club from the Championship or even the Premier League came in for me I would want to go because at the end of the day I want to play at the highest level that I can,” he said. “However, I’m fully committed to Sheffield United until that happens because I love the club and I can safely say that I am a Sheffield United fan. If a move happens then it happens, but until then I will remain 100 per cent committed to Sheffield United.”
Blackpool were one of the clubs that Sheffield United rejected bids from that summer and Quinn stayed at the club.
A few months later he scored the opening goal in the Sheffield derby and kissed the badge.
