Brazilian midfielder Jorginho started his career in Verona, coming from Italian grandparents, and made 96 appearances for the club.
He then moved to Napoli where he spent four years, before he set his sights on the Premier League. Napoli had an agreement with Manchester City for the midfielder but at the last minute, Chelsea made a bid and he chose them where he would be reunited with former Napoli manager Maurizio Sarri.
Napoli’s president, Aurelio De Laurentiis, explained why this was the case:
We said to ourselves, ‘if Jorginho has any requests, we’ll take them into account.’ For that, I’ll have to apologise to Manchester City. However, if the player would rather live in London than Manchester, I can understand that. If Chelsea are paying him even more, I can understand that too. Jorginho would go to Chelsea regardless of Sarri.
