Evertonian loves United’s badge

When he was a teenager, Wayne Rooney revealed a t-shirt which said “once a blue, always a blue” after scoring in the Youth Cup final.

“Running out there at Goodison Park to Z-cars playing in the background is one of the best feelings of my life,” he said after becoming a regular for the first team. “It’s what I always wanted to do.”

A few years later he was being unveiled as a Manchester United player on the Old Trafford turf and has since go on to kiss their badge repeatedly, particularly when playing against his former club or Manchester City.

It shouldn’t have come as a surprise to Manchester United fans when the prodigiously talented striker felt he had outgrown the club and said he would not be signing a new deal. Sir Alex Ferguson managed to change his mind a few days later and on the year anniversary of his announcement, after scoring against the winning goal against Otelul Galati, he kissed the badge again… and hasn’t looked back since.
