Kingson’s kisses before being released

After being released by Wigan, Richard Kingson joined Blackpool on a free transfer in their first ever season in the Premier League.

Following Blackpool’s 2-0 win over Sunderland at the Stadium of Light, Kingson kissed the badge in front of the travelling fans.

Blackpool were relegated at the end of the season and Kingson was released.

When he was a teenager, Wayne Rooney revealed a t-shirt which said “once a blue, always a blue” after scoring in the Youth Cup final.

“Running out there at Goodison Park to Z-cars playing in the background is one of the best feelings of my life,” he said after becoming a regular for the first team. “It’s what I always wanted to do.”

Shevchenko in kissing denial

Andriy Shevchenko spent seven seasons at AC Milan before making that £30m move to Chelsea. After scoring his first goal on his début for the Blues in the Community Shield against Liverpool he kissed their shirt.

The Italian press and fans of his former club reacted badly when the footage made its way back to Italy.

“I am telling you the truth, that the only shirt I kiss is the one of my country,” he said. “That is the one that matters for me.”

Benoit Assou-Ekotto infuriated by badge kissing

Benoit Assou-Ekotto has spent six season at Tottenham Hotspur but has insisted he will never kiss their badge.

“It infuriates me when footballers go on about playing for the shirt,” he told the Sunday Mirror in October 2011. “I think they should be held accountable for it when they kiss the badge and six months later clear off for a better pay day. They turn up at a press conference and go on about history and the love of the club. But what is the first thing they ask about before signing? How much!”

Former Manchester United and Real Madrid striker, Ruud van Nistelrooy, has today announced his retirement from football.

The Dutch striker boasts an impressive 347 goals from 589 games in his club career as well 35 goals in 70 games for his country.

Frank Lampard scored Chelsea’s first at Craven Cottage in the 2008/2009 season and followed it up with a kiss for the badge.

This evening, at Craven Cottage, Lampard opened the scoring for Chelsea again and again kissed the badge.

Torres loves Atletico… not Liverpool or Chelsea

Fernando Torres was a hero at Liverpool after spending three and a half seasons at the club and scoring 81 goals. The fans sung his name every week and he was hailed as a legend. There was no badge kissing, apparently, just a bit of shirt biting.

“I really feel at home here,” he said in December 2009. “From the first day I came right up until today I have felt that Anfield is my home. I feel like I am from Liverpool. For me, Anfield is the best place in England. I hope to be here for a long time and if my daughter speaks English and Scouse, I will be proud.”

A year later he signed for Chelsea…
