Odds on Everton to come 4th this season

8 02 2013

Before we look at the odds on Everton coming 4th in the premier league this season it is worth looking at the chances of Everton finishing in the top 4 and the betting odds for the other leading premiership teams. The odds on Manchester United and Manchester City finishing in the top 4 vary from 1/100 to 1/25, and although it is almost a certainty that they will, you need to be careful about choosing the best bookmaker. The next clubs for a top 4 finish are Chelsea at 1/10, Tottenham at 6/5 and Arsenal at 13/10. Next we get to Everton which is currently priced at 5/1 and is marginally ahead of Liverpool at 6/1. As a devoted Forest player, he obviously hated Derby County, and explained this relationship in the book Deep into the Forest.

Benoit Assou-Ekotto infuriated by badge kissing

8 06 2012

Benoit Assou-Ekotto has spent six season at Tottenham Hotspur but has insisted he will never kiss their badge.

“It infuriates me when footballers go on about playing for the shirt,” he told the Sunday Mirror in October 2011. “I think they should be held accountable for it when they kiss the badge and six months later clear off for a better pay day. They turn up at a press conference and go on about history and the love of the club. But what is the first thing they ask about before signing? How much!”

Badge kissing – what’s the big deal?

5 04 2012

Kissing the badge is one of the most hideous clichés of modern football. But that doesn’t stop players puckering up and planting a smacker on the crest in desperate displays of cloying insincerity.

Obviously, you have to be terminally stupid not to realise the striker drooling on a jersey and beating his chest as if he trying to stave off an imminent cardiac arrest is just as likely to be making the same display of lifelong loyalty at another club in a season or two.

So why, every time this laughable minipantomime happens, does one end of the ground erupt in fury, while the other comes over all sentimental: ‘Look, he’s kissing our badge, he must love the club like we do’? Wrong on both counts.
