Sandro Wagner started his football career at local club Bayern Munich. He then played for MSV Duisburg for a season and a half before making the move to Werder Bremen.

“I can hardly wait,” he said. “The transfer to Werder is a dream come true for me as I join the club I supported as a child. As soon as I heard that I had the chance to move to the Weser, my decision was made despite having a few other offers.”

German Toffee kisses his country’s badge

After scoring both goals in Germany U21s 2-2 draw with Italy U21s, Lewis Holtby kissed the badge.

His father, Chris Holtby, is a former English soldier from Liverpool who was stationed at the Rheindahlen RAF base in Mönchengladbach and his mother is German. Lewis, like his father, is a fan of Everton and has said it would be a dream come true to play for them…

Torres loves Atletico… not Liverpool or Chelsea

Fernando Torres was a hero at Liverpool after spending three and a half seasons at the club and scoring 81 goals. The fans sung his name every week and he was hailed as a legend. There was no badge kissing, apparently, just a bit of shirt biting.

“I really feel at home here,” he said in December 2009. “From the first day I came right up until today I have felt that Anfield is my home. I feel like I am from Liverpool. For me, Anfield is the best place in England. I hope to be here for a long time and if my daughter speaks English and Scouse, I will be proud.”

Uruguayan kiss for one season club

Matias Corujo joined Uruguayan team Penarol for the 2010-2011 season. He kissed their badge after scoring in a 1-1 draw against Internacional in the Libertadores Cup.

In the summer of 2010 he signed a contact extension and said: “I am absolutely delighted to settle the deal and couldn’t be happier here because I am so settled. All my family are here and love it to pieces. I have been here for seven years and the club is in my heart so there was no question I would sign.”

However, at the end of that season, United were relegated and Quinn wanted to explore his options after being named the Fans’ and Players’ Player of the year…
